Think Spring
January 3, 2016It’s the little things…
January 17, 2016I find it hard not to love stripes. They maketh a look work every time.
In fact, the only thing I have bought in the January sales (so far) is a stripy top from Marks (a top I remembered from a previous blog, see here) Now at £9 it was a sure buy to layer under jumpsuits, sleeveless jumpers or under sheer white shirts to show a softer stripe through.
So I was overjoyed to see that more stripes will be emerging in the shops at all levels. The only difference this season is that with the 70’s vibe still running strong, there will be more colours and more fitted options to wear with wider trousers and flared skirts.
Designer giant, Missoni show the trend at its best, with it’s Intarsia wavy stripes and above on the catwalk showing for this Summer.
A bold retro look from Asos would be a cute change from a basic t-shirt.
For more muted shades, that remind me of those sand art bottles that we used to buy on holiday, Next have this top by First and I, in a Viscose blend, £16.
Keeping the colour monochrome, this stripy turtle neck by River Island in viscose/elastane would be a great layer to wear now, slipped under a warm cashmere essential.
If you are good with vintage then this is an easy look to find, just be prepared for non breathable fabrics!
Colourful times ahead.
