Spring Wardrobe Shuffle
May 4, 2016The Clutch Clench
May 17, 2016When it’s really hot out there, all I want to wear is cool cotton (or similar fabrics) Not tight or restricting, not too bare but not frumpy either.
It’s quite a tough call, and after Sunday’s heat wave, I panicked, clothes thrown everywhere and I knew I needed a thing or two.
I did a quick recce of my summer wardrobe (in the attic) where I found plenty of light jackets and a wide cotton trouser that are perfect for now.
But I needed tops. Light and cool. So today, I ‘speed shopped’ for an hour through Guildford and found a perfect layer in Zara. In fact their range of cotton and easy fabrics like Lyocell (a rayon type of fabric which is now more sustainable that cotton) is really impressive, although hard to find in store.
This was my favourite, very light, very cool, very reasonable at £19.99, and will work with trousers or my denim skirt.
Or classic oversized cotton shirts, perfect with shorts and cut off jeans.
And for an even cooler approach, shirt dresses work a treat. Love these. Knee length, midi and longer, all could work on different days. With white trainers, or loafers and plaited belt (very Ralph Lauren style) or high wedges for evening. Button done up or down lower, little cami peeking out or worn as a jacket layer, long or short. So versatile.
In shades from white, ice blue, sky blue and denim – I plan to be ready for the next Sun day.
