No Ordinary Audrey
April 12, 2017Bring on the bronzers..and skirts
May 3, 2017Trends flow in and out, but there are a few humble basics that are essential to complete a wardrobe and this one does not need to be expensive, in fact sometimes the more pricey ones over do the design and lose simplicity.
At this time of year a denim jacket can be just enough to layer over printed dresses or make tailored trousers perfect for day casual but also work with collar up and a wrap of woollen scarf if chilly. The trend is for oversized but I will leave that for the teens, as I like a sleeker fit.
After a bit of research, Debenhams came up with some great options and I duly made the visit to try them on.
My favourite, by their own brand, The Collection is only £28. Dark denim with stretch which makes it really comfortable, fitted in at waist for shape and cropped, but just long enough to cover your waistband. I could drop a size for a very neat fit as I would normally wear with flowing wide trousers or long printed skirts. The image above looks boxy but I’d say it’s more shapely, if looser is your preferred fit, the square cut by Red Herring was also good (I liked the waist pockets) but the sleeves were too skinny for me and I would order my normal size for the right fit.
I have a selection of jackets in different denim shades, as pale works for casual and dark more dressy, and as prices can be very reasonable it’s easier to justify the multiple choice. Just choose simple, classic and avoid unnecessary details.
This is me, looking a little embarrassed (in the middle of the store!)
Are you a denim lover?
