Colour War
April 12, 2018Learn to Love Clothes Again
April 28, 2018With sunshine promised this week it’s time to prepare for baring more skin. I have used my faithful and easy to apply tanning cream by Vita Liberata, for a subtle hint of colour and confidence, and it’s now time to bring the summer clothes down from the attic storage.
If they still fit, after my winter feasts, I am looking forward to being reintroduced to my pale blue trouser suit and my floral midi skirts, as great alternatives to jeans wear.
But here are the 5, not so exciting but essential, basics that you need to make spring clothes work.
Checklist:
Skin tone bra. Remember white will show under white so choose a bra as near to your skin tone, darker is better than paler to disappear, even a soft peach to a light red will show less than white. No frills, just a smooth surface for t-shirt wearing.
A double front t-shirt. It’s a summer essential perfect to balance big prints or just with jeans and a funky belt. Cotton rich with some elastane and a sleeve length you are most comfortable with, but a 3/4 is good until a tan develops.
The denim jacket to wear over printed dresses, white, colour and to understate black trousers, it’s a life saver every summer. I bought my Tu denim jacket a few year ago from Sainsbury’s and its been used, under and over, ever since. For a more cropped version look at the teen brands like this one, £28 at Forever 21.
Footsies. Stock up on your shoe liners, essential for controlling blisters with the no sock look. I always choose the cotton rich ones like these from M&S and I need both the high cut, and low cut versions, £8.
Mid season ankle boot. Time to move away from the darker shades and add the softer neutral tones to work with dresses or trousers whilst elongating your leg.
The excitement grows. Winter coats can hopefully be packed away any day soon.
